Anair Aduaidh
Altan’s Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh takes time out of her busy touring and recording schedule to explore some of the North’s most attractive spots and to visit some of her musical friends, who take her to the heart of Ulster’s thriving music scene. Mairéad visits Fermanagh, Derry, Belfast, Down, Tyrone and her own beloved Donegal. Household names such as Daniel O’Donnell, Juliet Turner, Cara Dillon and Brian Kennedy welcome Mairéad to their hometowns and treat her to some of the stories and memories, which shaped their lives and led them on a remarkable musical path.
Anair Aduaidh (Of the North-West) is a rare opportunity to see many of the North’s very distinguished artists as we have never seen them before; in their own environments and yet not shying from the viewer’s desire to see them doing what they do best; performing. Among the long list of names who perform with Mairéad are Neil Martin, Tommy Sands, Bronagh Gallagher, Adrian Dunbar, Rev. Gary Hastings, Fr. Seamus Quinn, Arty McGlynn, Nollaig Casey, and Róisín de Faoite.
